I live in South Africa just outside Johannesburg about 10 Kms from the O.R Tambo International Airport.

I was born in the City of East London on the Eastern Cape Coast of South Africa and brought up in Pretoria.

Schooling and Hobbies

Schooling was at Robert Hicks Primary School and Pretoria Technical College where I did competitive Gymnastics.
As a keen member of the Pretoria Boys Naval Brigade, I attended cadet training at the Simonstown Naval Base, Robben Island (yes I was there before President Nelson Mandela), Saldanha Bay Naval Base and the Bluff Naval Base in Durban during mid-year school holidays.
My hobbies were electronics, radio and model aircraft (before the computer age).
My one-year compulsory military training was completed at the Naval Gymnasium in Saldanha Bay.

Amateur Radio

I became a CB radio fanatic and later an Amateur Radio Operator with call sign ZS6BRH - I am no longer active. I also have an experimental radio license ZS9C.
